Description:
A tale of seduction deceit and murder draws together a fated triangle of the crippled jester Rigoletto, his innocent daughter Gilda and his philandering master The Duke Of Mantua. Verdi's great drama of seduction, betrayal and revenge returns to The Royal Opera in David McVicar's acclaimed production, which questions our attitude to beauty and ugliness, and exposes the corruption and tormented emotions that lie beneath and decadent splendour of Renaissance Mantua. Italian specialist Maurizio Benini conducts a cast that includes Simon Keenlyside singing Rigoletto for The Royal Opera for the first time following triumphant performances of the role in Vienna and with Welsh National Opera.
